Jobs and Truth

Things have been busy around these parts...but I know many people out there are hurting so when a message hit the desk I wanted to let you know in case someone fits and is willing to live in the fine city of Austin - or thereabouts. These are all geek jobs so if they don't sound familiar that's why...

Unrelatedly, there was a Facebook note from my good friend, Billy, regarding the shitstorm on "racism" that is throttling the populace of late.
"It's because the defeat of racism requires a completely integrated metaphysics and epistemology, in order to arrive at the proper ethics: we must be understood as a single species of *individuals*. This is *impossible* in all but the most renegade minds, now, because this culture has been wading around ass-deep in the moral filth of *collective* political premises for whole generations."

Spread that far and wide.

Waiting, waiting on that holster from Dragonworks for the Five-SeveN...it will another month or so, I think, but just in time for the real heat of summer. It will permit the concealed carry without cover shirt and with a belt that will work with a skirt, etc. The 1911 is nice for everyday in the purse/bag but on the hip it requires sturdy leather holster and belt. And a long shirt. I don't MIND it but it can be burdensome to cover. Sure, I would have loved to get it hyper-personalized. But the budget demands caution. I am just thrilled he agreed to add the model to that line! An amazing craftsman.

This is a really nice bit of work that might not get enough notice.

This is a horrible bit of work, I think. But it won't stop the eloi from jumping on it wholesale without considering the downside. And just as your cellphone has gone from a comm device to a breachable, snoopable, tracking tag - so could that tech go from being merely neato keen to MandatoryWare.

More and more I just want to step back from all of this...start a retreat and leave no cookies...I was once a geek who knew the latest and greatest but I am now moving to Luddite that is giving a knowing look at a cell when a conversation starts.

Sadly, it is only by technology that any truth is found. If one was left to only the MSM, there would be no facts left. Or only Left Facts. Heh...

Life goes on. Dogs need walked, laundry needs folding, shrimp needs grilled. And wild mulberries may remain if I am lucky and move fast.

I, starting my Blog felt just like you. "More and more I just want to step back from all of this...start a retreat and leave no cookies...I was once a geek who knew the latest and greatest but I am now moving to Luddite that is giving a knowing look at a cell when a conversation starts.

I overcame that simply because the risk does not beat the reward. I have met wonderful people in this space, (you and others) and other Bloggers in "Meat space". I look forward to meeting more in person.

For me, sitting here in a somewhat suburbia setting with limited social interaction with like minded people this means much.

I can always go back to my favorite mountains if conditions warrant. As many have said "If you are on the Titanic, I hear the Champagne and prime rib is fabulous, might as well enjoy".

While that is a somewhat flippant comment, I will give it its due while I scout out the lifeboats locations and prepare provisions.

Thus far, that has also been my stance - enjoy it while it lasts. And I have. Little things have a larger value when looked at through that lens...it won't be this easy to wash dishes and clothes, I think, as I spin the dial.

But each day I feel that sense of time shortening. And I want to hurriedly make those contacts, ensure we all know where we each are in case the need arises...

Damned worrisome...

Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.

I second John - and plan on making a pie from it as well.
